Red Sky Meteorology respects your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit redskyweather.com, how it is used, and the choices available to you. By using this site, you agree to the practices described below.
Most of this site — city search, alerts, radar, and other tools — works without an account and without providing any personal contact information. When you search for a city, that search term is sent to weather data providers (see below) to return a forecast. Standard technical data is collected automatically, including your approximate location (derived from IP address), browser type, device type, and pages visited.
Creating an account is optional and is only needed to save favorite cities for quick access. If you sign up, we store the username you choose and a securely hashed version of your password — we cannot see, recover, or reconstruct your original password from what is stored. If you save a location on the Weather page, we store the city and state associated with your account so it can be shown back to you on future visits. This information is not shared with third parties and is not used for advertising.
You can remove a saved location at any time from the "My Locations" page. To delete your account entirely, email [email protected] and we will remove your account and any associated saved locations.
A short-lived cookie remembers your current weather condition for visual display purposes (such as showing clouds or rain animations) and expires when you close your browser. If you log in, a separate session cookie keeps you signed in for up to two weeks or until you log out, and a security cookie (CSRF token) helps protect account actions — like saving a location — from being forged by other websites. None of these cookies are used for advertising or tracking.
This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, and may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. This allows Google and its partners to show you relevant ads elsewhere online.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info. You can also disable cookies entirely through your browser settings, though some site features may not function correctly as a result.
Weather and related data displayed on this site is retrieved from several third-party providers, each subject to its own data practices:
NOAA National Weather Service API — forecasts,
alerts, and forecast discussions.
Xweather — city geocoding, UV index,
sunrise/sunset, air quality, wildfire data, and road weather conditions, retrieved
by our servers and cached to limit request volume.
NOAA GOES satellite imagery and the
Weather Prediction Center — satellite and
surface analysis imagery.
We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services or of any advertiser whose ad appears on this site.
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so it can be removed.
This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in practices or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
